Mineral exploration drilling

Historical drilling at Basin Gulch

More than 320 historical drill holes have been completed at Basin Gulch, with highlight intersections including 1.8 g/t gold over 162 meters from surface.

These are historical results published by Lannister Mining. They show where gold and silver were found, and the company plans confirmation drilling before they are used in a maiden mineral resource estimate. They are not a current mineral resource.

What did historical drilling find at Basin Gulch?

Historical drilling found long intervals of gold starting at surface, plus short, very high grade intervals. Three of the five highlight holes listed by Lannister Mining begin at surface, which is consistent with the company's description of near-surface, oxide-hosted mineralization.

How to read a drill result

A drill result pairs a grade with a length. Grade is given in grams per tonne (g/t): the grams of gold (Au) or silver (Ag) in one metric tonne of rock. Length is the distance along the hole or trench over which that average grade was measured.

Longer intervals from surface, such as 0.66 g/t gold over 326 meters, describe broad zones. Short, high grade intervals, such as 156 g/t gold over 3 meters, show concentrated pockets. Explorers look at both together, and lengths are not necessarily true widths.

What is mineral exploration drilling?

Mineral exploration drilling recovers rock from below surface so geologists can measure it directly. Diamond core drilling returns solid cylinders of rock; reverse circulation drilling returns chips faster and usually at lower cost. Holes are spaced more tightly as a project moves toward a resource estimate.

From historical holes to confirmed ounces

Historical data is a head start, not a finish line. Lannister Mining states that Basin Gulch has potential to host a significant maiden mineral resource estimate after expansion and confirmation drilling of historical intercepts. Confirmation drilling re-tests selected historical results with modern methods so a qualified person can rely on them.

Questions people ask

How many holes have been drilled at Basin Gulch?
More than 320 historical drill holes have been completed at the Basin Gulch Property, according to Lannister Mining. The company plans to use this historical drilling, together with new work programs, in a future maiden mineral resource estimate, after expansion and confirmation drilling of historical intercepts.
What are the best historical drill results at Basin Gulch?
Highlight historical intersections listed by Lannister Mining include 1.8 g/t gold over 162 meters from surface, 0.66 g/t gold over 326 meters from surface, 3.2 g/t gold over 72 meters from surface, 156 g/t gold over 3 meters, and 25 g/t gold over 14 meters. These are historical results, not a current mineral resource.
What did trenching at Basin Gulch show?
Trench highlights listed on the Lannister Mining property page include 62 g/t gold and 32 g/t silver over 159 meters, 4 g/t gold and 23 g/t silver over 146 meters, 5 g/t gold and 54 g/t silver over 34 meters, and 25 g/t gold and 45 g/t silver over 61 meters. They are stated here exactly as the company publishes them.
What does g/t mean in drill results?
g/t means grams per tonne: the grams of metal contained in one metric tonne of rock. A result such as 1.8 g/t gold over 162 meters describes the average grade across that length of drill core or trench. Both grade and length matter, because a long interval of moderate grade can matter as much as a short, very high grade one.
Are historical drill results the same as a mineral resource?
No. Historical drill results come from past programs and show where mineralization was found. A mineral resource estimate is a formal model of tonnes and grade prepared by a qualified person under standards such as NI 43-101 or S-K 1300. Lannister Mining plans confirmation drilling of historical intercepts before preparing its maiden mineral resource estimate.
What is mineral exploration drilling?
Mineral exploration drilling recovers rock from below the surface so geologists can measure what is there. Diamond core drilling produces solid cylinders of rock, while reverse circulation drilling returns rock chips more quickly and usually at lower cost. Results are reported as grades over lengths, and holes are spaced closer together as a project moves toward a resource estimate.
